The Institute for Software and Systems Engineering (ISSE) of the University of Technologies Clausthal is hiring a 

Research assistant in the field of AI-based evaluation and matching systems for the circular economy

(if the personal requirements are fulfilled EG 13 TV-L, Service location: Clausthal-Zellerfeld und Goslar)

at first for a 3-year duration. The job offer is basically part time suitable.

During the duration of the position it is possible to strive for a PhD. The at the Institute for Software and Systems Engineering (ISSE) located Research Group Digitized Green Tech focusses on the design and the development of digital solutions to shape a sustainable future.

The focus of the activity is on networking various players in the circular economy, for example in the areas of reuse, repair, remanufacturing, and recycling. The goal is to build a system that can find products and components and match them with incoming requests from various stakeholders. To this end, digital systems are being developed that provide AI-supported tools to identify suitable sources and optimize utilization decisions throughout the product life cycle. Various machine learning approaches are to be used for this purpose.Your tasks are: 

  • Requirements definition, survey and documentation
  • Processing research projects
  • Conception of digital systems and services
  • Development of AI-supported solution approaches
  • Publishing your research results at national and international conferences
  • Support in the preparation of lectures, supervision of exercises and scientific work by students
  • Implementation of concepts and processes

Your profile:

  • Successful degree (Master's, Diploma) in the field of computer science, software systems engineering, digital technologies or comparable qualification
  • Openness to varied and exciting topics and tasks in the field of digitized circular economy
  • Independent, structured way of working and quick comprehension; ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new concepts
  • Enjoy scientific work in a cross-domain context.
  • Good knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, R, Java, C#, C++) 
  • Good knowledge of object orientation and at least basic knowledge of UML
  • Knowledge in the field of machine learning 
  • Good knowledge of machine learning (e.g. Object Detection & Identification, Generative AI, etc.)
  • Experience in project management or scientific project-based research work 
  • Good written and spoken English skills (min. B2)
  • Good written and spoken German skills (min. B2)
