There are a number of ways to earn money directly at the university during your studies, or to receive money via BAföG, for example:
BAföG (Federal Training Assistance Act) is a study grant that German students can receive during the standard period of study.
Scholarships are awarded by foundations and companies. In contrast to BAföG, money received via scholarships generally does not have to be repaid.
Student and educational loans are another option for financing your studies that is available independently of any BAföG benefits.
The so-called auxiliary scientist jobs (Hiwi jobs for short) offer students the opportunity to earn money directly at the university.
