The Institute of Mathematics and the Computer Center of Clausthal University of Technology are looking for a:n

IT Specialist (m/f/d)

The position is open-ended and should cover 100% of the weekly working hours, but is generally suitable for part-time work.

The tasks include the largely independent planning, implementation and maintenance of IT solutions and service tasks to support teaching and research at the Institute of Mathematics. In particular, the following tasks are to be performed:

  • Further development and maintenance of the IT infrastructure at the Institute of Mathematics, in particular the CPU cluster server
  • Support in the operation of the pool rooms
  • IT support for Institute staff (first and, in some areas, second level support, incident management) in the desktop environment, in particular Linux and MacOS
  • Creation and maintenance of necessary documentation and FAQ collections for users

Prerequisites for employment are a completed vocational training as an IT specialist (preferably specializing in system integration) or a comparable or higher qualification. We expect the following knowledge and skills for the position:

  • good practical knowledge in the use, installation and configuration of common operating systems, especially Linux and MacOS
  • Ideally good knowledge in the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers
  • Very good German and good written and spoken English skills
  • Strong social and communication skills, a results-oriented way of working, team spirit and openness to new tasks

The pay scale is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). Depending on your personal qualifications and the tasks assigned to you, you will be graded up to pay group 9a TV-L. The TV-L provides for an annual bonus payment at the end of the year. In addition, we offer a separate supplementary pension in the form of a company pension (VBL).
