Doctoral Researcher in the field of LLMs for Engineering

The position is for the duration of three years in full-time. Part time is negotiable.

Our vision is an intelligent "AI Co-Pilot for Engineering". This co-pilot is intended to actively support experts in demanding tasks such as product design, the creation of simulation software, technical documentation, and bidding processes, and to partially automate processes.

Your Mission:

  • Develop and test approaches where LLMs support engineers and researchers.
  • Work hand in hand with experts from various fields to create relevant and effective solutions.
  • Put your ideas into practice by developing prototypes and testing them on real challenges.
  • Actively contribute to research, write scientific papers, and share your findings with the scientific community.

Your Profile:

  • An above-average university degree (Master or Diploma) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Enthusiasm for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and especially Generative AI/LLMs.
  • Practical programming experience (e.g., in Python).
  • Experience with common software development tools, such as Git, Continuous Integration, and Issue Tracking.
  • A creative, solution-oriented, and independent way of working.
  • Excellent communication skills and enjoyment of teamwork.
  • Very good German language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Good English language skills, both written and spoken.

Knowledge in the following areas is desirable:

  • Experience in an engineering application area.

Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). At the end of the year, the TV-L provides for a special annual payment. In addition, we offer a separate supplementary pension in the form of a company pension (VBL).
