Open-minded university TU Clausthal
Clausthal University of Technology stands for internationality and cosmopolitanism. Around 50 percent of students in the Upper Harz come from abroad. This makes Clausthal University of Technology one of the most international universities in Germany. It cooperates with more than 150 universities and institutions around the world.
Clausthal-Zellerfeld is traditionally known for its welcoming culture and its cosmopolitan, colorful atmosphere. Clausthal University of Technology can therefore play a key role for the region in the integration of refugees and people with a migration background. It also sees this as an opportunity to contribute to greater openness, transparency and diversity. Clausthal University of Technology is happy to be part of the "Open-minded universities - against xenophobia" campaign of the German Rectors' Conference.
Clausthal University of Technology's international outlook also became clear during the course of the university's 250th anniversary celebrations in 2025:
Further statements
"The Executive Board of Clausthal University of Technology would like to address all people in our society and make a clear commitment to peaceful and harmonious coexistence between all people - regardless of their origin. We live in a world in which conflicts and tensions often gain the upper hand. But we are convinced that we can all work together for a better future. As a university with a traditionally strong international network, we stand for the values of tolerance, diversity and human rights. We promote cooperation between people from different cultures and backgrounds. Clausthal University of Technology is a place where people from all over the world come together to expand their knowledge - and it will always remain such a place.
(Presidential Board of Clausthal University of Technology)
"Universities can facilitate the integration of refugees, particularly through education. At Clausthal University of Technology, applicants can attend a low-cost intensive course run by the cooperation partners KVHS Goslar and Heimvolkshochschule Mariaspring and prepare for their studies. During this time, they can make initial contact with the university. The aim is to make it easier for applicants to start their studies."
(Clausthal International Center)
"Our aim is to provide people in emergency situations, especially refugees, with a kind of neighborhood help. Dozens of participants are involved in the Netzwerk Helfen. As soon as we receive a call for help, we communicate it within the network and see who can help."
(Dorothea Römpage, initiator of the "Netzwerk Helfen")
