In accordance with Section 36(2), first sentence, of the NHG, Clausthal University of Technology is organized into the following faculties:
Pursuant to Section 44(2) of the NHG in conjunction with Section 21(2) of the Basic Regulations of Clausthal University of Technology, the faculty councils consist of 13 voting members in the following proportions:
- seven from the faculty group,
- two from the staff group,
- two from the student group,
- two from the group of technical and administrative staff (MTV group).
The 13 voting members are elected directly by their respective groups. The faculty group must have one more vote than the other groups combined. When deciding on matters concerning the evaluation of teaching, the votes of the members of the student group are counted twice; in these matters, the members of the MTV group have no voting rights. The regular term of office is three years; the term of office for student members is one year.
The dean chairs the council without the right to vote. The dean serves on the Faculty Council in an advisory capacity. The same applies to the associate dean, provided they are not voting members.
Tasks
The Faculty Councils are responsible for the following tasks:
- they decide on matters of research and teaching of fundamental importance,
- they decide on the regulations of the respective faculty, in particular the examination regulations,
- they give their opinion to the Presidential Board on the introduction, significant changes and closure of degree programs,
- they decide on the number of members of the respective Dean's Office in accordance with the basic regulations and elect its members.
