Study credits/ long-term tuition fees

The study credit is regulated by § 12 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG).

According to this, every student has a study credit for the Bachelor's degree course, which is calculated from the number of semesters of the standard period of study for the Bachelor's degree course plus six additional semesters.

For a consecutive Master's degree course, the study credit is increased by the number of semesters of the standard period of study for this degree course.

As long as the study credit has not been used up, no long-term tuition fees are payable.

§ Section 12 (3) NHG regulates the semesters in which the study credit is not used up.

When calculating the study credit, all university semesters spent in Germany must be taken into account, regardless of whether or not the respective degree course was completed.

If you were enrolled abroad or at a private university in Germany before enrolling at Clausthal University of Technology, the previous semesters are not taken into account. For the Master's degree course, the study credit is then calculated from twice the standard period of study for the Master's degree course.
