Leave of absence

A leave of absence must be applied for online during the re-registration period for the relevant semester. Corresponding proof can be uploaded there. A leave of absence is generally not possible during the first semester or for previous semesters. In rare exceptional cases, leave of absence can be granted for previous semesters. Please contact your responsible administrative office. In principle, a maximum of two consecutive semesters and a total of four semesters during the entire course of study can be granted leave of absence, which are generally not counted as semesters. Please also note that you may not attend any courses, complete any coursework or take any examinations during a semester of leave. An exception to this is a leave of absence due to a stay abroad - in this case, examinations can be taken and recognized upon application (this may also affect the crediting of semesters), please contact the Examinations Office in advance."

Leave of absence is regulated in § 9 of the Clausthal University of Technology's matriculation regulations.
