Change in administrative practice for SS 2022
Dear students,
Until now, you had the option of being exempted from long-term tuition fees with a medical certificate. According to the law (§ 14 para. 2 sentence 3 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act), however, this is only possible with a medical certificate from a public health officer. Accordingly, the administrative practice will be changed from 01.01.2022. Please note that the application, including the official medical certificate, must be submitted in full within the re-registration period and that you must bear the costs incurred yourself.
Furthermore, "certificates of incapacity for work" were previously also recognized as proof of illness for examinations. In accordance with Section 22 (2) of the General Examination Regulations (APO), a medical certificate must be submitted in the event of illness; the Examination Board decides on the ability to take examinations. From WS 2022/2023 , only this form is to be used as proof of illness. Certificates of incapacity for work, school certificates, etc. will no longer be recognized for examinations from the beginning of the examination period SS 2022 (01.05.2022).
Yours sincerely,
