Study Program

In the first two semesters, everything revolves around mathematics, physics and chemistry - in other words, the necessary basics that you will need later on. But don't worry, it's not all dry theory! Right at the beginning of your bachelor's program, there is a "freshmen project" where you can gain your first practical experience in the field of process engineering. In the third semester, you have the opportunity to choose one of three fields of study: Apparatus and Plants, Chemistry, or Environmental Technologies. You can specialize in these different areas for a total of 24 credit points. This means that you can choose the subjects that interest you the most and that best fit your goals. From the 5th semester onwards, the most important process engineering subjects are in the program. Here you will deepen your knowledge and prepare yourself for practice.

As a rule, the program lasts 6 semesters, but before you graduate, an exciting industrial and laboratory internship awaits you. You can also apply your theoretical knowledge outside the university. You will also write a Bachelor's thesis, either at one of the institutes of the Clausthal University of Technology or in cooperation with a company. This gives you the opportunity to prove yourself in a concrete project and gain valuable experience.

Field of study: Apparatus and plants

If you are interested in "mechanical engineering" topics, this field of study could be right for you. You will gain in-depth insights into the following areas:

  • Apparatus Engineering I
  • Apparatus Elements
  • Component Testing
  • Mechanical Engineering I

Field of study: Chemistry

Here you will dive into the fascinating world of inorganic, organic, and especially, physical chemistry. With this major, the following subjects will make you an expert in the field of chemistry:

  • General and Inorganic Chemistry II
  • Physical Chemistry I
  • Physical Chemistry II
  • Practical Organic Chemistry

Field of study: Environmental Technologies

If you are interested in environmental topics, you have come to the right place! In this study program you will intensively deal with chemistry with a focus on the topics of wastewater, waste, and recycling. The following subjects will help you:

  • Physical Chemistry I
  • Wastewater Technology I
  • Basics of Waste Treatment
  • Recycling I
  • Geological Soil Science and Soil Treatment

Industrial Internship

You have the opportunity to complete an industrial internship before your studies even begin. The internship lasts a total of 8 weeks and you can use it to gain your first practical experience in industry. You will need to complete the internship before the beginning of your bachelor thesis. The second part of the internship, which lasts a total of 12 weeks, is directly related to the content of your study program. You can complete this specialized internship during the lecture-free periods, and thus immerse yourself more deeply in industrial practice. The best thing about this internship is that you can choose your own industrial partner! More details
