Business and Engineering (Bachelor)

NEW! Now with interdisciplinary first semester project and exercises in all economics lectures.

This degree program produces specialists for all those areas where business administration and engineering overlap. They can help ensure that technical problems are approached in an economically sound manner and that management issues are resolved within the given technological parameters. Such engineers are particularly important when it comes to managing the effective and efficient use of resources in industry, designing systemic solutions, and providing cohesion between the technical and commercial areas of a business.

Jobs and careers

Business and engineering has been one of Germany’s fastest-growing degree programs for decades. Due to the increasing proportion of industrial value creation that is being achieved through interdisciplinary projects, alongside the challenges currently facing the manufacturing, extraction and energy sectors, demand for business and engineering specialists is consistently high in the job market; our graduates therefore enjoy outstanding career prospects. Successful completion of the bachelor’s degree opens up the possibility of jobs requiring basic engineering and business expertise. The best job and career opportunities are available to graduates of the master’s program, in which students are initiated into the latest research and develop their own profiles via the focuses they choose for themselves.

Possible fields for bachelor’s graduates:

  • Purchasing
  • Production management
  • Operations scheduling
  • Logistics
  • Controlling
  • Project management
  • Technical sales and distribution
  • Quality management and maintenance

Why Clausthal?

TU Clausthal’s bachelor’s degree in business and engineering places great value on imparting a broad-based education in the foundations of engineering and business administration, focusing not on short-lived rote learning but on methodology and proficiency in abstract thinking. This puts graduates in a position to perform roles that link the technological and business spheres, and to feel at home as all-rounders in both fields, without having to settle on a specialization during their bachelor’s programs. Next to the good support that students receive, this degree program is characterized by the high value placed on tutorials accompanying the lecture series and the incorporation of important courses from beyond the strict confines of the field.

Program structure

Engineering and business are given equal importance from the very first semester. Our students take classes in all the essential foundations they will need for both fields. One seminar and various modules teach them further important skills in IT, business English, academic writing, and aspects of law. They can choose their electives from a wide range of engineering and business classes. The program ends with the completion of a bachelor’s thesis, which students can undertake at one of TU Clausthal’s institutes or in collaboration with a company or research facility from outside the university.
