Recognition abroad

  • Before studying at TU Clausthal

You can find an overview of the procedure here.

If you have previously studied at another university/university of applied sciences abroad and find that courses coincide with module examinations that you have to take at Clausthal University of Technology (in accordance with the applicable program-specific implementation regulations), please do the following:

    1. first make an appointment with the academic advisor responsible for you. You can find your student advisor on the page of your degree program.

    Which documents are required?

    - Certificate, transcript of records or overview of achievements - officially translated into German or English (This must show the scope of the courses, i.e. SWS, credit points or credit points). - Excerpts from the module handbook for all modules to be recognized (if necessary, also scripts, records, etc.) - Application for recognition of achievements - already completed by you - Statement form for the lecturer(s) - Attention: Please complete the application as far as possible (see sample) so that the lecturer or module supervisor only has to enter whether recognition is recommended!

    How does the interview work?

The responsible academic advisor will clarify with you for which module (partial) examinations recognition may be possible (for WPF modules, use this form if necessary and enter accordingly - see sample) and will

    - issue a corresponding statement for modules that fall within his/her area of responsibility (sent directly to the Examinations Office) and - inform you who you can contact about other equivalent modules if necessary

    2. contact other lecturers if necessary (this may be possible by e-mail).

    Which documents are required?

    - Same documents as above, but here the module description for the individual module to be recognized by the respective subject lecturer is sufficient - please also send the Statement for the subject lecturer form with your supplemented student data

What do the lecturers have to do?

    - Check the acquired competencies of the respective courses for significant differences and after completion of the examination - send the corresponding statement to the examination office

    3. as soon as you have contacted all subject lecturers, submit your documents inprinted form to the Clausthal University of Technology Examinations Office!

    Which documents are required?

    - All necessary documents are listed on page 2 of the application form. These should be carefully checked for completeness before sending. - In particular, we would like to point out the necessity of official translations and certified copies! - In addition, please also submit the data collection form for the period abroad! - If you have already studied in the same degree program, please also submit a certificate of eligibility for the examination (in German: Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigung)!

Please understand that we will only process applications that we have received in full and in printed form!

Important information on recognition can also be found on the relevant application form. Please read this carefully, as some questions can be clarified in advance.

As soon as your application has been processed, you will receive a corresponding notification.

Please understand that we are unable to issue confirmation of receipt for individual statements from specialist lecturers and that recognition takes some time. We will check from time to time whether we have received all the statements from the lecturers for the modules you have applied for and will endeavor to process your application as quickly as possible.

If you have any further questions, please contact the administrator responsible for your degree program.
