The Institute of Mathematics at Clausthal University of Technology is seeking to fill the position of

Research Assistant (m/f/d)

in the research group Continuous Optimization

(if the personal requirements are met EG 13 TV-L)

initially for a limited period of 3 years full-time. Within the scope of the position, a further qualification (doctorate) at the TU Clausthal is desired.

Your core tasks will include

• Further development and analysis of novel numerical solution methods for continuous optimization problems, for example for optimal design of experiments (active learning) or for topology optimization
• Publication of research results
• Presentation of research results at international conferences
• Creation and maintenance of scientific software
• Interdisciplinary cooperation with other institutes at TU Clausthal
• Support in teaching

Your profile:

• excellent degree (MSc) in mathematics or a related subject with a strong focus on numerical optimization
• Independent, structured way of working and quick comprehension skills
• enjoy working on interdisciplinary application problems and exchanging ideas with scientists from other disciplines
• Very good written and spoken English skills

Good programming skills with numerical codes in C/C++, Python, Matlab or Julia
